A crown (aka cap) is a type of permanent dental restoration. Think a motorcycle helmet except it can’t be taken off. Similar to how a helmet protects the head and brain, a crown protects the remaining tooth and nerve. Crowns are often necessary when a large cavity or crack threatens the overall structural strength of a tooth. Crowns are also incredible versatile. They can also be used to hold a bridge to replace a missing tooth or to restore your smile if staining, spacing or wear are a concern.
Using the latest technology, most of our crowns can now be completed in one visit. We use a very specific camera that creates a 3D scan of your mouth and then we design your own custom crown right here in office. After it’s designed, it is sent to our in house milling unit where your crown is precisely filed down from a block of material into your beautiful new tooth!
